2017 Candidate Interview:
Southfield City Coucilperson Lloyd C. Crews
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 16, 2017)
Southfield, MI – Southfield Council President Pro-Tem Lloyd C. Crews is seeking re-election on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot. There are three four year terms and one two year terms available. Also on the ballot are Myron Frasier, Sara Habbo, Harold Hill, Corette Houghe, Nathaniel Lewis Jr, Michael Ari Mandelbaum and Linnie Taylor.
President Pro-Tem Crews has 20 years of experience in higher education including 15 years with Oakland Community College, holding positions such as Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, Director of Student Services and tenured Professor of Political Science.
“Serving on the Council has been a very good experience for me, and I think that I’ve done a very good job over the past couple of years in terms of helping to move Southfield forward,” Crews said. “I’ve talked about Southfield being a city that’s too good not to be great. And so my job and my role I feel is to take all the goodness of the city and add to it. I think that’s what we have done. My first full term on the Council, one of the first things we did was set a strategic vision for the city, a 5 year plan. And I think that’s been one of our greatest accomplishments as a council is by actually having a defined plan about things we wanted to get done, and by some timeframes and measurable outcomes about these types of things, I think we have achieved a great number of them so far.”
