2017 Candidate Interview: Walled Lake Councilperson Bennett Lublin

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 7, 2017)

Walled Lake, MI – Walled Lake Councilperson Bennett Lublin is seeking to retain his seat in the Nov. 7, 2017 election.  There are three seats available for four year terms.  Also running are Gabriel Costanzo, Dan Lauffer, John Owsinek and Robert “Bob” Robertson.

Councilperson Lublin has served on council for two years.  He’s been part of the Downtown Development Authority for 17 years and previously served as Library Board Treasurer.  He has a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State University and professional experience as a CPA, a licensed builder, restaurateur, and a commercial property manager.

When asked why people should vote for him, Lublin said “The opposition bare, has barely three years of combined service for Walled Lake.  My running mates and I – John Owsinek, Bob Robertson and [Mayor] Linda Ackley and I have over 100 years of direct volunteerism for the City of Walled Lake.  My opponents, they have no experience with decisions that protect the wellbeing and safety of our residents. We do.  We understand our city. We understand our vision – no property tax increases.  You’re hearing it again and again because it’s so important. Financial responsibility.  Imagine a city that actually saves money before they spend it.  Or a government.  That’s really what I think we should be asking of our government, and in Walled Lake that’s what we’re doing.”
