(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 7, 2017)
Southfield, MI – Tarita Darden is one of three candidates running for Southfield City Clerk on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot. Also running are Derrick F. Hale and Sherikia L. Hawkins. The Clerk’s position is a four year term
Darden has a professional background as an insurance agent, a substitute teacher and a project manager with Waste Management. She has lived in Southfield since 1993 and has been involved with the schools, including as a volunteer with the PTA.
“I do have the experience. I have trained. I have managed budgets. I have, in terms of ethics, again, just talking about transparency, I think that it’s important. And I’m a person that you can believe in,” Darden said. “I am the real deal, the real Southfield. And I talk about accountability. We need to be accountable to our community, so if there are questions regarding something in accordance to law, I need to provide them with that information. The Clerk is the checks and balances of the city, so I would like to just be there for our community.”
