2017 Candidate Interview: Amy Aubry for Hazel Park City Council

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 11, 2017)

Hazel Park, MI – Amy Aubry is one of six people running for four seats on Hazel Park City Council. The top two vote-getters will have four year terms, and the third and fourth highest will have two year terms.  Also on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot are Anja Barmettler, Charles E. Gladue, Bethany Holland, Andy LeCureaux and Alissa Sullivan.

Aubry has degrees in Public Administration and Political Science.  She’s worked as a researchers with Wayne State University, Researcher for Wayne County Commission, and is currently a Senior Policy Analyst for the City of Detroit.  In Hazel Park she serves on the Zoning Board and the Hazel Park Arts Council, including as co-chair for the Hazel Park Art Fair.

“I have a lot of passion for my community,” Aubry said.  “I moved here.  I bought a house here.  And I did it on purpose.  I did it because I have friends that lived here a long time and I loved coming to their house and hanging out.  I moved here because I like this small community, and I love it.  And I also think I have a great skill-set that I can bring to residents, to the community, to make it not just Hazel Park – hip, happening Hazel Park, but a much better Hazel Park that will attract even more people to come, move here and call it home like I do.”
