2017 Candidate Interview: Hazel Park Councilperson Bethany Holland

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 7, 2017)

Hazel Park, MI –  Bethany Holland is running to retain her seat on Hazel Park City Council in the Nov. 7, 2017 election.  Also on the ballot are Amy Aubry, Anja Barmettler, Charles E. Gladue, Andy LeCureaux and Alissa Sullivan.  The two highest vote getters will have four year terms, the third and fourth highest will get two year terms.

Holland was appointed to her current seat after Mayor Pro Tem Jeffrey Keaton moved to the Mayor’s seat when Jan Parisi retired due to health issues.  Holland’s career was in sales and marketing for the music industry. In Hazel Park she’s been active on the Neighborhood Watch and as a Team Leader for volunteers at the animal shelter.

When asked about successes thus far on Council, Holland replied “Repealing the pitbull ban. That would be a big one. That took 18 months of hard work and a lot of reviewing ordinances in other communities. That was a big one.  That was within three months of being in office.”
