Pet Owners Can Help “PawWatch” for Crime in Farmington Hills, Mtg. Oct. 12

On Thursday, October 12 at 6 p.m., the Farmington Hills Police Department’s Crime Prevention Section will host a Paw Watch meeting at Police Headquarters located at 31655 Eleven Mile Road, just west of City Hall.

Paw Watch is a crime awareness initiative where community pet owners take an active role in keeping Farmington Hills one of the safest cities in Michigan.  Since the training started in April 2017, more than 100 residents have enrolled in the Paw Watch program and learned how to safely observe and report crime while walking their pets.

At the training session on October 12, pet owners (pets do not attend) will learn how to observe suspicious activities or criminal behavior, find out what type of information the Police Department is seeking, and get tips on how to report information that helps officers respond to incidents.  Participants will also learn how to remain safe when they are out walking their pets.

The Paw Watch meeting is open to all residents.  Every pet who joins the program will receive a Paw Watch bandana.  Light refreshments will be served and a special safety prize will be awarded in a raffle held at the end of the meeting.

To register or for further information, contact the Crime Prevention Section at 248-871-2750 or email crimeprevention@fhgov.com.
