(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 25, 2017)

Southfield, MI – Southfield City Councilperson Michael Ari Mandelbaum is running for re-election on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot.  There are eight candidates running for four seats. The three highest vote-getters will get a four year term and the fourth highest will get a two year term.  Also on the ballot are Lloyd C. Crews, Myron Frasier, Sara Habbo, Harold Hill, Coretta Houge, Nathaniel Lewis Jr, and Linnie Taylor.

Councilmember Mandelbaum works as a Senior Compliance Analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield.  He has served on Council for a two year partial term.  He’s also involved with the Southfield Nonprofit Housing Commission, the Hebrew Benevolent Society and as a Trustee of the Southfield-Lahtrup Democratic Club.

Among the things he’d like to work on if put into office for another term is “If the voters allow me to continue my time on Council, I’d love to continue working on it transparency in the City. I am currently working with the Council on a program called Southfield 101 where we want to educate a lot of the residents and businesses on many of the programs and offerings that Southfield has that may be a little different or unique to Southfield. For example, our Police Department will come out to your home do you a safety inspection, and tell you that you may want to increase your lighting, trim some bushes, things like that to make sure your home is secure. Southfield has a lot to offer and want to continue embracing that.”  He also talked about Northland Mall and using technology to improve efficiency in City departments.
