2017 Candidate Interview:  Dan Lauffer for Walled Lake City Council

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 25, 2017)

Walled Lake, MI – Dan Lauffer is one of five candidates running for three seats on the Walled Lake City Council in the Nov. 7, 2017 election. Also on the ballot are Gabriel Costanzo, Bennett Lublin, John Owsinek and Robert Robertson.

Lauffer is a retired pastor who has also been a college professor.  Through his church and in the city he’s done volunteer organizing.

When asked why he is running, Lauffer said “As I looked around Walled Lake, I could see so many things that need improved. A lot of wasted money. A lot of lost opportunities. We have one of the oldest cities in Oakland County…. and yet we have squandered that historical perspective. That’s probably the biggest reason that I decided to run. I also have a friend who is on the council she said ‘I’m out-numbered, I can’t get anything done. They vote me out all the time, please run.’ So, three of us did.”  Lauffer said he is running on a “reform” slate with Gabriel Costanzo for Council and Patrick Bryant for Mayor.
