Clarkston Community to Celebrate Ribbon Cutting at Brady Lodge Oct. 5
Clarkston, MI – On Thursday October 5, from 3-5pm, Independence Township Parks, Recreation and Seniors will be celebrating the grand opening of the newly renovated Brady Lodge in Bay Court Park. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 4pm.
Brady Lodge was built by George Nexsen Brady in 1921 and he founded Camp Brady. Once established, the camp was run by the Detroit Area Council of Boys Scouts of America through the 1940s. For the next 30 years, the property accommodated a recreational camp for mothers and children run by the District of Nursing Society. In 1972, it was leased to yet another group serving underprivileged youth and children with disabilities.
Brady Lodge recently underwent a major facelift in 2016. Renovations have included a new roof, bell tower, windows and glass cargo bays, interior and exterior paint and a new electrical system. Renovations continued through the summer and are now ready to be revealed to the public
