2017 Candidate Interview: Paula Millan for Clawson City Council

Clawson, MI – Paula Millan is one of five candidates running for two seats on the Clawson City Council.  Also on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot are Matthew Ball, Kyle Bird, Jim Horton and Susan Moffitt.

Millan has done municipal communications work as well as working for an automotive and industrial facility design engineering firm. She has also served four years on the Planning Commission in Clawson.

“I’ve spent four years on the City Planning Commission and this is kind of a natural progression of something different to serve our community,” Milan said when asked why she is running.  “I really like the Clawson community… My children started with school of choice and we got to know families and the kids and we just liked the people there. And we liked the community. So we bought a home and invested and then shortly after we moved, [Mayor] Penny Luebs asked if I would be willing to serve on the Planning Commission.  My background is in political science undergrad and Master’s in public administration.so it’s kind of a natural fit for me.  I wanted to get involved in the community so I went there. After serving four years on Planning, I’d seen a lot of business issues come to light… And I’d also just like to represent the citizens a little bit.  I feel like it would be nice to serve from the other side.”
