2017 Candidate Interview: Novi City Councilperson Andrew Mutch

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 17, 2017)

Novi, MI – Novi City Councilperson Andrew Mutch is running for re-election on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot.  There are three seats available and seven candidates.  Mutch is joined in the race by Kelly A. Breen, Brian G. Burke, Cindy Gronachan, Gwen Markham, Sam Olsen and Bryan Valentine.

Mutch was elected in 2005. Prior to that he served on the Novi Library Board.  For 18 years he’s worked for Waterford Township as an IT systems administrator.

“What I would say to people considering who to vote for City Council is that I really offer three things. First is my experience. Even though I’m the youngest member of the City Council, I’m, after the Mayor, the longest serving.  So I do have quite a bit of experience. And, as I’ve mentioned, I also have experience in my local government position,” Councilperson Mutch said.  “Secondly, I do the work necessary to ensure that whatever comes before City Council, I’m making an informed decision… I don’t ever like to be voting on an issue and not understand all sides of the issue.  And then, finally, and most importantly, I really listen to residents.  I’m not always going to agree with everything I hear from residents, but I want them to know that their voices are being heard at the City Council.”
