2017 Candidate Interview: Bruce Kantor for Lathrup Village City Council
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 17, 2017)
Lathrup Village, MI – Bruce Kantor is one of five candidates running for three seats on the Lathrup Village City Council Nov. 7. Also on the ballot are Frank M. Brock, Ian A. Ferguson, Marcus Raudszus, and Saleem R. Siddiqi.
Kantor has a work history of computer systems design and 25 years in the healthcare field doing consulting, sales, training and analytic work. He’s also served on the DDA design committee.
“The three challenges that I would like to see fixed as quickly as possible, is, one, the condition of the residential roads. I spent a lot of time in various residential areas and I think our roads are on the lower end of the scale in terms of their life span,” Kantor said. “Another issue… is the fact that we have a lot of empty buildings, a lot of storefronts that don’t have stores in them. I’d like to see us bring good quality businesses there… Another issue that’s important to me… is the Southfield Road corridor. Our buildings are dated. There’s not a lot we can do about that, but it doesn’t mean the property owners can let their buildings go into disrepair. The corridor doesn’t look all that great and I think theres a lot of things we can do to improve it, and I’d like to be a part of making those important decisions.”
