2017 Candidate Interview: Rochester Hills Councilperson Kevin Brown

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 13 2017)

Rochester Hills, MI – Rochester Hills City Councilperson Kevin Brown is seeking re-election on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot.  Also on the ballot is challenger Jenny McCardell.

Councilperson Brown has a degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State and a master’s degree in business administration from University of Michigan.  He served as a nuclear trained submarine officer in the Navy and now works as part of a global sales team for Whirlpool.  He was elected four years ago to Council.

In his interview Brown spoke of many accomplishments of the City Council and staff in the past four years, including the overall culture of city leadership.  “You think about government and before I got involved in Rochester Hills on Council you have this sort of negative view of wasted money and inefficiency.  And Rochsest Hills makes it easy on us as Council because they really look at ways they can do more with less and be efficient.  We use the word innovate all the time, but they actually push that in the organization – to come up with new ideas. So it makes it a lot of fun to be part of.”
