Downtown Ferndale Businesses to Help Hurricane Victims Sept. 9

(Downtown Ferndale, Sept. 5, 2017)

Ferndale, MI – On Saturday, September 9th, the Downtown Ferndale business community is coming together to help small downtowns and their businesses get back on their feet following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.

Downtown Ferndale businesses answered the call to action from the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority (DDA), led by Board Chair and business owner Dean Bach to hold a fundraiser.

“Targeting our efforts to go towards helping fellow downtowns and their small businesses rebuild seemed like the best use for any funds we raise” explained Bach. Participating businesses have committed a portion of their sales on Saturday, September 9th towards the relief effort.

“We know all too well the great impact small independent businesses and their owners have on our communities. Many live in the towns their businesses are in, employ residents, invest their money back into the communities in numerous ways and provide the goods and services that residents need,” said Cindy Willcock, DDA Operations Manager. “Hurricane Harvey Help Day is a way for downtown business owners to assist those in other small downtowns much like ours.”

Downtown Ferndale businesses pledging to help out include The Candle Wick Shoppe, the Conserva, Danny’s Irish Pub, The Emory, Howe’s Bayou, Imperial, J’s Penalty Box, M-Brew, Modern Natural Baby, Woodward Avenue Brewers, PORT, Public House, Revel Bar @ the Rust Belt Market, Snap Fitness, Future Lazer Tiger Tattoo, 3 Winks, M.C. ‘Wiches, Valentine Distilling Co. and EnSoul Yoga.

Dino’s Lounge, although closed for remodeling, will be hosting a BBQ bash on their rear patio with lots of special surprises.

Additional Downtown Ferndale businesses are also supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, including Painting With A Twist, Mejishi Martial Arts and The Bosco.

The Ferndale Downtown Development Authority manages and markets Downtown Ferndale, a district of approximately 350 businesses located over 3.9 linear miles, intersecting at the iconic Woodward Avenue & Nine Mile Rd. For more information on Downtown Ferndale, please visit www.DowntownFerndale.com.
