2017 Candidate Interview: Novi Councilperson Gwen Markham

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Aug. 26, 2017)

Novi, MI – In the November 7, 2017 election Novi City Councilperson Gwen Markham is running for re-election.  She is one of seven candidates running for three positions on the Novi City Council.  Also on the ballot are Brian G. Burke, Kelly Breen, Cindy Gronachan, Gwen Markham, Andrew Ian Mutch, Sam Olsen and Bryan Valentine.

Markham has lived in Novi for 22 years and has served on the City Council since 2013.  She’s also been part of South East Michigan Council of Governments, the Novi Planning Commission,  Friends of Novi Theatre, and as a parent volunteering for activities in Novi Schools.  Her professional career has been as a engineering and manufacturing executive.

When asked why people should vote for her, Councilperson Markham said “I think if they’ve watched what I’ve done and seen how I participate in the community, they know that I care about Novi.  They know that I am interested in looking toward the future and continuing to make Novi better and stronger, and that I am open to new ideas.  I really want to see Novi continue to get better.”  Markham also talked about issues such as traffic and development.
