Presentation to Recall History of 1975 Fire in Downtown Ferndale Sept. 14, 2017
The President of the Ferndale Historical Society, Garry Taylor, will join with local author Donald Levin to present a talk, “Ferndale History & Mystery,” at the Ferndale Area District Library on Thursday, September 14, from 6:30 P.M. till 8 p.m.
Mr. Taylor will relate the historical account of the worst fire in Ferndale’s history, the “Ostrander Building” fire, which in 1975 burnt out half of the north side of West 9 Mile Road. Following that historical account, Mr. Levin will discuss how he fictionalized that fire in his latest novel, The Forgotten Child, the fourth volume in his Martin Preuss mystery series set in Ferndale. Mr. Levin will read from the novel and have books for sale and to sign after his reading.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
The Ferndale Area District Library is located at 222 E. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, Michigan.
