Troy Police Department Announces Fall 2017 Citizens Police Academy

Troy, MI – The Troy Police Department is hosting a Citizens Police Academy.  The eight-week program will run from September 20, 2017 through November 8, 2017, meeting on eight consecutive Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Police Department employees will offer residents and business owners insight into how police officers perform their duties and serve the community. The purpose of this program is to allow attendees to become familiar with their Police Department through classroom instruction and practical experience.  It is the Police Department’s intent to share with participants “who we are and what we do.”

Presentations are scheduled at the Troy Police Department Emergency Operations Center at 500 West Big Beaver Road, the Troy Fire & Police Training Center at 4850 John R, and one of our Fire Stations. There is no cost to attend the program.

 

The curriculum for the Academy will include a facility tour and the following presentations:

The Citizens Police Academy is open to the public. However, preference will be given to Troy residents, business owners, and employees of businesses in the City.  Class size is limited and applicants are chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Eligible applicants will be subject to a background investigation before consideration for the program.  Participants will be selected based upon a successful background investigation.  Attendees are required to sign a Release of All Claims Waiver and must be able to stand for up to 60 minutes.

Interested persons may obtain an application and waiver at the Police Department’s walk-up desk or at our website www.cityoftroypolice.com.
