2017 Candidate Interview: Oak Park Mayor Marian McClellan

(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 24, 2017)

Oak Park, MI – Oak Park Mayor Marian McClellan is unopposed on the Nov. 7, 2017 ballot, but she still hopes to engage the public about the topics that impact the city.  There is a contested City Council seat.

McClellan has been Mayor nearly six years.  In her interview she discussed successes such as improving economic development and communication to help attract new businesses and keep residents informed, adding more community policing efforts including a K9 unit and a program to give ice cream to kids, and beautification efforts like the sunflowers planted around town.

Prior to retirement, McClellan worked as a teacher in several districts including Warren, Detroit and Rochester Hills.
