Candidate Interview: Pontiac Councilperson Doris Taylor Burks Dist. 6
(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 17, 2017)
Pontiac, MI – Doris Taylor Burks is the current Councilperson in Pontiac’s 6th District who is running for re-election on Nov. 7. She is being challenged by William A. Carrington who currently serves on the Pontiac School Board. Because there are only two candidates, they are not included in the primary
Burks is a retired skilled trades worker who was first elected in 2013. She currently serves on the DPW board and is on the Michigan Municipal League’s Elected Officials Academy Advisory Board.
“I have proven that I’m a hard worker. I’ve proven that I listen and that I’m a team player, and I get the job done,” Burks said. “I don’t talk the talk, I walk the walk. Every call that I have received from my constituents, I have answered and taken care of the problem.”
