Driver Fleeing Police Crashes into Berkley Home

Berkley, MI – A 20-year-old Pontiac man with outstanding warrants was arrested after having lead Royal Oak Police on a pursuit that ended in a crash. On Monday, June 26, 2017 at 7:51 p.m., a Royal Oak officer attempted to stop a vehicle for having an illegible license plate and driving erratically in the area of Woodward and Catalpa. The vehicle fled after turning onto Catalpa in the city of Berkley with the officer in pursuit.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on Catalpa west of Coolidge, after reaching speeds of over 90 MPH. The driver immediately ran from the scene after striking a porch and crashing into 2 parked cars, abandoning the passenger inside the vehicle.

The passenger refused medical treatment and was later released. After an extensive search with the assistance of Bloomfield Hills K-9 and Berkley Police, the driver was not immediately located. Berkley Police later located the driver in the area of 12 Mile and Coolidge after receiving a call about 2 suspicious males. The driver and the passenger had called a relative to pick them up from the area. The driver was turned over to Royal Oak officers where he is being held on charges for Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer and several outstanding warrants.
