Novi – Jodi Sikaitis, a high school special education teacher was named “Teacher of the Year” for the Novi Community School District. “Jodie Sikaitis is more than deserving of this recognition to be named Novi Educational Foundation and Suburban Collection 2017 Teacher of the Year”, said Dr. Steve Matthews, Superintendent of the Novi Community School District.
“Her passion is truly contagious. Jodie has taught for 23 years where she’s worked with students who have wide range of academic and functional needs. She uses her knowledge and skills to enhance student learning and growth at Novi High School. Jodie engages and challenges them to reach their goals and she genuinely cares about her students. There's a glimpse of the magic that goes on in her classroom. Jodie is impeccable with the relationships in the classroom, in her school, in our district, and our community at large. A ninth grader approached her four years ago describing his interest in football, she found a way for him to participate on the team as the hydration manager. Jodie supported a second wish for this same student to run a very special touchdown play. This simple gesture has left an indelible mark on his life, his family, the entire Novi community, and abroad. Her passion is truly contagious and she is so deserving.” Adding to this honor, The Suburban Collection awarded Mrs. Sikaitis a vehicle lease.
