Orion Township Public Library Unveils Orion History Museum Display

(Orion Twp. Library, June 20, 2017)

Lake Orion, MI – The Orion Township Public Library recently unveiled a new Orion history museum exhibit on display in the Friends Reading Room at the library with pictures and artifacts related to Lake Orion’s origins as a resort town.

The exhibit includes pictures and information about Park Island, taxi boats, and the Detroit United Railway. Some of the artifacts included in the exhibit were gifted to the library from the Orion Historical Society.

“The new display highlights some of the pictures and artifacts we have found and is a visual way of teaching the Lake Orion story to everyone,” said Kate Kloor, Adult Services Librarian. “Some of the items on display include a nautical flag from one of the old boats, a piece of the railroad track that people came to Lake Orion on, and some postcards.”

Please stop by and view the Orion history exhibit any time the library is open at 825 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, MI 48362. Library hours are 9:30a-9:00p Monday through Thursday and 9:30a-5:00p Friday and Saturday.  For more information contact Kate Kloor, Adult Services Librarian, at 248.693.3000 x308 or kkloor@orionlibrary.org.
