Doggies Get Wrapped up in 
Claws and Paws Event

Clawson, MI – Clawson City Park went to the dogs on Saturday.
The 12th Annual Claws and Paws Event was sponsored by the Clawson Chamber of Commerce and brought out dozens of four legged friends to experience the action. Sponsors and vendors were on hand to promote the event and businesses that cater to the pet world. Among the were AIM Graphics, Sit Means Sit, Hug a Pet, Dog Aide and Longview Boarding and 
Grooming.
The Clawson Lions Club was also on hand selling hot dogs and drinks to benefit their charitable works.
Paws For Life Rescue had plenty of canine friends waiting for a new home. Melissa Trenton, volunteer with Paws for Life, was helping with pet adoptions.
“We partner with local shelters to help transition dogs and cats in to their forever home,” Trenton said. “It’s great to get the dogs out of the shelter for a day and participate with Clawson.”
Clawson resident and business owner, Benjamin Lang of Lang Premier Properties, was on hand with his dog, Joy, to enjoy the event.
“We’re huge dog lovers and we love to support Clawson. Just being part of a great event, supporting local rescues – I already have three dogs,” he said.
There was a “mummy event” that consisted of dog owners desperately trying to wrap their furry friend in toilet paper but neither participant was successful. Cara Stempky from Clawson took part with her dog Sadie along with Ashleigh Irvan and her dog Bailey from Warren. Clawson chamber volunteer, Andrea Hodges, was helping direct the day’s activities with her microphone and amplifier.
“It’s a fun filled family event and it’s going to keep growing,” Hodges said. “Next year we’re 
hoping to bring in more rescues besides dogs – cats, birds, guinea pigs, snakes – It’s not a giant event so it’s more low-key and relaxed atmosphere. It brings out a lot of Clawson residents.”
The event was quite dog heavy but that didn’t stop the attendees from enjoying the fun, sun and activities of the day. The event included a Dog Walk around the park and neighborhood.
