Investigation Finds “Gun” Pointed at Kids in Clarkston was Really Cologne Bottle

(Compiled, May 1, 2017)  Clarkson, MI –  In a follow up to an incident on Friday where two 12-year-olds reported having been approached by a car with four men and a gun, Clarkston Superintendent Rod Rock released the following statement:

“As we indicated in an email on Friday, April 28, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at around 3:30pm on Paramus Street (adjacent to the Clarkston Junior High School campus). Two students reported witnessing four males waving what appeared to be a gun from a vehicle before leaving the area.
Police presence was immediately established on the scene, and after determining the immediate area and surrounding schools to be safe, officers advised the district to proceed with dismissal at Clarkston Elementary. (All other schools in the vicinity had already dismissed for the day.)
The suspects involved have since been identified and investigated by police, revealing no firearm was actually brandished (the item in question was a gray and black bottle of cologne). A thorough investigation of these individuals and search of their homes, as well as further questioning of the the witnesses corroborates this finding.”
There are several styles of cologne bottles that are shaped like guns. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
