Reporter Food: Corned Beef
Swiss Burger at Royal Diner in Clarkston
(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 24, 2017)
Clarkston, MI – Sometimes I can have a big mouth. But I don’t know that anyone has a mouth – or a tummy – big enough to handle the Corned Beef Swiss Burger at Royal Diner in Clarkston.
I was told that this burger was a monster, which seemed at the time like a challenge. It starts with a giant roll and a thick hamburger that is a tasty meal in it’s own right. But then it is topped with several inches of respectably good corned beef and a layer of melted Swiss. It normally comes with Thousand Island but I got mine without.
I ate less than half and had enough left over for another meal.
I opted for Sweet Potato fries on the side, while my lunchtime companion got the traditional white variety and a more realistically sized Reuben.
This was my first time at the Royal Diner, though I pass it all the time. It is open 24 hours and has a wide variety of food items. The booths are comfy and I’m told there is wireless. So it could end up being a nice writing spot.
Royal Diner is located at 6540 Dixie Highway, Clarkston, MI 48346 and their website ist www.theroyaldiner.com.
