Pam Williams, Republican Activist and Library Board President, Dies

Bloomfield Hills, MI – Friends and family members have been sharing grief on social media over the sudden loss of Bloomfield Hills resident and Republican activist Pamela (Pam) Williams, who was reported to be found dead in her home Tuesday.  No cause has yet been announced.

Williams grew up in Oak Park and earned her B.A. at Western Michigan University and her MA and Ed. Spec. from Oakland University and went on to teach at Romeo Community Schools according to her bio on the Oakland County Republicans website. Williams was active in the Republican Party, serving various roles over the years including precinct delegate, and Secretary of the Oakland County Republicans.  She served as a Trustee for the Bloomfield Township Library Board and on the Zoning Board of Appeals for Bloomfield Township.

Although she was a grandmother and had retired from teaching, Williams was always young at heart.  Williams went to the Republican National Convention as a delegate for Republican John Kasich, and was excited to be able to go to Washington DC for President Donald Trump’s inauguration.  Another exciting political moment was being featured in a campaign ad for Governor Rick Snyder.

She had a passion for encouraging people to get involved in local politics, especially women.  Williams served on the Board of the Women Officials Network (WON) and the WON Foundation Board, an organization where women officials or those running for office can find resources and a community of women to learn from.

Williams’ smile and positive attitude helped to bring the women together, and her mentoring helped many aspiring leaders come out of their shells.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said of Williams “Pam was truly a delightful person who was a quiet but very committed Republican worker. She will be missed by her loving family, and by extension her Republican family. God speed.”

Williams had also been a supporter of Oakland County Times, giving monthly through our Online Community Garden.
