DTE Working on Power Restoration, Warming Centers Available
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 11, 2017)
Oakland County, MI – 250,000 people in DTE’s service area remain without power as of 3am Saturday after wind storms knocked down power lines through the area.
According to the DTE website, “DTE’s restoration teams are fully mobilized and working 24/7 to restore power to all customers. So far, we’ve restored more than 50% of the 800,000 customers impacted, and we expect to restore 200,000 more customers today. Customers will receive restoration estimates as crews are assigned to assess and repair damage in their area. We fully expect to restore at least 90% of outages by 11:30 p.m. on Sun., March 12. We know outages are difficult and we thank you for your continued patience.”
On Twitter, DTE posted “As of 9:30 p.m., crews have restored power to more than 550,000 of the 800,000 customers impacted by the wind storm.”
Normally an interactive map lets customers know what is happening in their area. However that function is not currently available on the DTE website or mobile app. DTE has been updating the site with a color coded PDF that shows massive outages across the region. However as of 3am the map had not been updated since Friday evening. The PDF also lacks the detailed data that the interactive map once held, including estimated restoration times.
At 8pm Friday, DTE Tweeted “While crews are still out in the field working to restore power, our social customer service team will be back at 7 a.m. to help you.”
