Mid-Winter Break Week of Fun at Ferndale Library Feb 20-24

(EVENT page)

Ferndale, MI – The Ferndale Library wants to help kids of all ages let off some steam during their school’s mid-winter vacation. With snow on the ground, families feeling a bit cooped up in their houses can rely on the library as a destination for fun! Starting Mon., Feb 20, the Ferndale Library hosts a week of unique programs, one scheduled each day, some for teens, some for kids and smaller children, and something for the whole family.

Whereas the library has coordinated successful literacy programs during off-school seasons that encourage kids to spend time reading and reinforce vocabulary, the “Boredom Busters” promote coming to the library to have some fun. From blockbuster movies, to the performance of a play for families, and the chance to learn about and observe live mammals that you might find in in your backyard inside the library, these activities will have kids begging to head to the library.

The age range will be 2-18, and there is no registration required to participate or attend an activity or presentation. There will be a movie for teens, followed later by a family movie night. There is a matinee global and rare game day for elementary and middle school age kids and an “Elephant and Piggie LIVE” show for preschoolers. On Tues., Feb 21, the Howell Nature Center presents “Michigan Mammals,” live in the library, showcasing cute critters that kids can typically find in their own backyards.
