Hazel Park, MI –  After the resignation of Hazel Park Mayor Jan Parisi in December, Hazel Park City Council moved up Mayor Pro Tem Jeffrey Keeton to the top spot.  They then had to pick a new councilperson.

That new councilperson is longtime resident Bethany (Beth) Holland.  According to a press release from the city “Beth and her husband Gary are longtime residents of Hazel Park.  Their daughter Gabrielle also resides in Hazel Park.  Beth Holland has an extensive history of community service, having contributed thousands of hours volunteering in various areas of the community over the years.  Some of those efforts include serving as Volunteer Team Leader at the Hazel Park Animal Control Shelter, serving as Chairperson of the Ford Road Block Club, and serving as the citizen coordinator for Hazel Park’s Neighborhood Watch Program.

“She has also volunteered at multiple Memorial Day Festivals, pet vaccinations, and numerous other special events.  Beth has served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Hazel Park Board of Review, and she participated in the Congress for the New Urbanism’s John R. Corridor Improvement planning process.

“She completed Oakland County’s One Stop Ready training program, and she is a trained Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer. Beth has also served as member of the Historical Commission for the past year, and she will continue to do so.  Beth was educated at Brandon High School, Oakland Community College, and University of Detroit.”
