Stop Sign Had Been Knocked Down Before Serious Crash in Orion Twp.
Orion Twp, MI – FROM DAY SHIFT: 01-07-2017, 07:00 hrs.
THROUGH MIDNIGHT SHIFT: 01-08-2017, 07:00 hrs.
INCIDENT: 17:59 hrs. – Orion Township – Personal Injury Accident / Request for the OCSO Accident Reconstruction Unit – #17-003812
SUMMARY: Deputies and the Orion Township Fire Department responded to a Personal Injury Crash that involved two vehicles on Silverbell Rd and Giddings Rd. A 2009 Ford Escape was being driven southbound on Giddings Rd and failed to stop at Silverbell Rd due to a stop sign being previously knocked down. The Ford Escape continued into the intersection and was struck by a late model Dodge Charger that was traveling eastbound on Silverbell Rd. Deputies requested assistance from the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The driver of the Ford Escape was transported by paramedics from Star EMS to McLaren Hospital – Oakland where he is listed in critical condition. He was later transferred to Royal Oak Beaumont where he remains in critical condition. His seatbelt use is unknown. A passenger in the Ford Escape was also injured and was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland where she is listed in stable condition. She was wearing a seatbelt during the crash. The driver and only occupant of the Dodge Charger was transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland where she is listed in stable condition. She was wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation by Deputies assigned to the OCSO Crash Investigations Unit.

PASSENGER INFORMATION (Ford Escape): 27 year old female, resident of the City of Rochester Hills.
DRIVER INFORMATION (Dodge Charger): 49 year old female, resident of Oakland Township.
