Berkley Warns Residents of Phone Scams

(City of Berkley, Jan. 7, 2017)

Berkley, MI – The City of Berkley is alerting residents to the following situations:

An entity claims to be calling on behalf of the City of Berkley offering to reduce credit card debt. It appears that the caller may be using phone numbers that were previously used by the City of Berkley but have since been disconnected.

Residents are advised to disregard calls from either entity.  The City of Berkley, including Berkley Public Safety, has not authorized anyone to act on its behalf for these purposes. These types of solicitations are considered fraudulent and personal information should not be shared with the caller.

You may call the Public Safety Department (248-658-3380) if you receive a threatening call from either entity described above.
