Suspected Package Thief Arrested in Pleasant Ridge

Pleasant Ridge, MI -On Wednesday December 20, 2016 Pleasant Ridge Police arrested a 24 year old Southfield man for stealing packages from a porch in Pleasant Ridge. Undercover officers from Troy Police and Royal Oak police were watching the suspect as he stole the packages on Norwich Street. After the arrest, a stolen package from Oak Park was found in the suspect’s car. The victim of the Pleasant Ridge theft came to the police station and identified his packages that contained numerous Christmas gifts. The suspect is Olin Thurman, a 24 year old Southfield resident. Thurman was arraigned today in 45th District Court in Oak Park on one count of larceny more than $200 but less than $1,000 and receiving and concealing stolen property. Judge David M. Gubow set Thurman’s bond at $25,000 cash. He is currently being held on a Michigan Department of Corrections detainer as well as the theft charges.
At this time, there is no evidence that Thurman is responsible for any other package thefts in Pleasant Ridge.
Pleasant Ridge Police would like to thank the members of the Troy and Royal Oak Police Departments that assisted in apprehending Thurman.
