Parties Seeking Volunteers to Observe Presidential Recount

Bloomfield Hills, MI – As the legal issues surrounding the Presidential ballot recount continue to play out in court, Oakland County Republicans, Democrats, and Greens are recruiting volunteers to observe the recounts, which could start as early as Monday.
Green Party Candidate Jill Stein raised money to have the votes for President recounted, and is currently waiting to see if the count will begin on Monday or Wednesday.  There are also pending actions by Donald Trump and Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette to stop the recount. The Detroit News gives details of the legal procedures.
In Oakland County, both major parties are hoping to have volunteers observe the process, and Stein’s campaign is organizing volunteers in Michigan.
REPUBLICANS
Oakland County Republicans sent an email with information about training.  “If you are available to help observe the recount, please sign up at www.migop.org/recount to get more information.
“In Michigan, where the margin of victory was the smallest, we will need your help all over Oakland County should there be a recount. YOU WORKED HARD FOR THIS VICTORY, DON’T LET THEM TAKE IT FROM US!  Come to OCRP Headquarters: 42611 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills MI, for Recount Volunteer Training on the following dates and times:
Monday, December 5th at 12:00 pm
Monday, December 5th at 6:00 pm
Attending a training is mandatory to be credentialed.

DEMOCRATS
Oakland County Democrats sent an email stating there will be at least 225 observer shifts each day until the county ends.  “While it is not our job to challenge the count, Secretary Clinton believes that it is important for us to have observers present,” the email states. “If you are interested in participating as an observer please contact Mona DeQuis at 734-945-1717 / mdequis@mivictory2016.org and sign up at https://www.hillaryclinton.com/signups/mi-recount-help/”
GREENS
Jill Stein’s website lists training dates that have already passed, but gives contact information for director of operations in Michigan, Keenan Pontoni, keenan@recountmichigan.com.”
