Ferndale’s Forthcoming Parking Deck Dec. 13

Ferndale, MI – Residents, business owners, or anyone who wants to learn more about the parking deck coming to Downtown Ferndale is welcome to the Downtown Parking Deck Public Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 6pm-7:30pm at the Ferndale Library 222 E. 9 Mile, Ferndale.
A Parking Committee comprised of representatives from the business community, downtown property owners, and residents researched 
options for building a deck, and decided on the location being the W. Troy Street Lot, which is at the corner of W. Troy and Allen. The initial plan calls for four levels of parking along with apartments and commercial space.
At the October Planning Commission Meeting Dan Mooney of developer FSP emphasized that the concept is in the “really high level conceptual phase,” and that the project could change as discussion progresses with the city and the public.
As it stands the deck will likely be four stories. The City is exploring the potential to incorporate mixed use components into the project such as apartments, street level retail, or office space. The deck will be constructed in such a way that it could support an additional two floors should the City want to add on vertically in the future. Currently there 
are 138 spaces in the lot. The structure would bring that up to 389.
The public meeting is Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 6-7:30pm at the Ferndale Library. The meeting scheduled for December 13th will provide updates to and receive comments from the general public. The City also plans on conducting a series of smaller focus groups. Look for more info at www.parkferndale.com.
