Ferndale Holiday Ice Festival Dec. 10
(EVENT page)
Ferndale, MI – It’s the most wonderful time of the year, which means it’s time again for Downtown Ferndale’s annual Holiday Ice Festival, Saturday, December 10th from 10am to 4pm! Presented by Cregger Plumbing & Sewer Service, there will be plenty of traditional holiday-time activities for the whole family to enjoy. Come experience downtown as it transforms into a winter wonderland with over 40 magnificent ice creations lining streets! Watch the ice carvers as they chain-saw, chisel and shape blocks of ice into masterpieces based on Very Merry Melodies – your favorite holiday tunes.
Welcome Santa when he arrives at Downtown Ferndale’s North Pole (Schiffer Park at Planavon & West Nine Mile Road) at 10am on Ferndale Fire Department’s Engine #1, and meet his live reindeer too. Activities include FREE photos with Santa, urban hay-rides around town, and visits with live reindeer. Adding to the excitement, there will be in-town ice carvings by world champion Tajana Raukar and her team from Ice Dreams as well as a display of 40+ ice sculptures! If you need to get some holiday shopping done, let the holiday music set the mood while you go store to store checking off everyone on your list. The day also includes a lunch with Santa at Rosie O’Grady’s at noon.
Also very much part of the day are community organizations, helping contribute with special opportunities for Festival goers. The Ferndale Rotary will hosts its Annual Holiday Ice Pancake Breakfast at M-Brew (177 Vester) from 8-11am. The Ferndale Arts & Cultural Commission (FACC) will unveil a mural designed by student contest winner Desaree Emmi at 2:30 at Allen & 9 Mile. The Commission will also run the warming tent at the North Pole, supplying hot chocolate and cookies for guests waiting for their meet & greet with Santa. Joining them in the tent will be members of Michigan’s Fallen, assisting those who wish to create a holiday card to send to a soldier.
