Using Taser, Deputy Subdues Man w/Gun in his Mouth

Springfield Twp, MI – INCIDENT: 01:19 hrs. – Springfield Township – Domestic Assault / Suicidal Subject Armed with Rifle / Resisting & Obstructing a Police Officer / – #16-195181
SUMMARY: Deputies responded to 9700 Block of Windsor Lane for a Domestic Assault in progress. A 9-1-1 call was received from this address reporting an assault.. Upon arrival, Deputies were confronted by an intoxicated male subject outside of the residence. As Deputies approached the subject, he began yelling at them to leave. The subject then ran inside of the residence. Deputies approached the front door and announced their presence. Deputies were met by a female who showed obvious signs of being assaulted. Deputies entered the home and found the inside of the home in state of disarray. Deputies were again confronted by the same male subject that was outside of the residence. The subject was now armed with a .223 caliber rifle. The subject had the barrel of the rifle inside of his mouth and was threating to shoot himself. The subject then charged at the Deputies with the barrel of the rifle still in his mouth. A struggle ensued and one of the Deputies was able to deploy his Taser during the struggle and the Deputies then were able to subdue him and place the him into handcuffs. The rifle was later found to be unloaded.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The subject was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges. Detectives will be continuing with the investigation.
ARRESTEE INFORMATION: 41 year old male, resident of Springfield Township.
VICTIM INFORMATION: 41 year old female, resident of Springfield Township.
