Troy, MI – Jennifer Callaghan is one of two people running for one open Probate Judge position for Oakland County with a six year term. Callaghan has worked as a Public Administrator handling Probate Court responsibilities, Assistant sideHeadLinesAttorney General in the Child and Youth Services Division, and Guardian Ad Litem in Probate Court.

When asked why she is running for Judge, Callaghan said “I’ve kind of committed my whole legal career to serving the vulnerable population. I started as an assistant attorney general and child-abuse and neglect on the civil side, prosecuting those cases. Now I serve the elderly, mentally ill, developmentally disabled populations now. That’s what I do. That’s my passion, that population. And I’d like to continue serving the population.”

In her interview with oc115, Callaghan talked about other involvement in legal advocacy groups and getting her start volunteering for a free legal aid clinic.  She also talked about some of the cases she has been proud of, and about the emotion and the humanity involved in the Probate Judge position.
