2016 Candidate Interview County Commissioner David Bowman 10th District
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 28, 2016)
Pontiac, MI – Oakland County Commissioner David Bowman of the 10th District representing Pontiac is running for re-election on the Nov. 8 ballot. He is being challenged by Republican David B. Foster.
In addition to being County Commissioner, Bowman works with Mclaren Oakland as Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator. Prior to that he was Constituent Services Director for State Rep. Tim Greimel.
When asked why he is running for a second term, Commissioner Bowman said “I am running again ultimately because I think there’s still work to be done. As I stated this is my freshman candidacy within the commission. I’ve had two years to create relationships, to initiate programs, and to ultimately learn. There’s a lot of learning, a lot of listening and watching to fully become acclimated with the role of County Commissioner.
“In spite of making some progress in those efforts, I still feel there’s work to be done. I would like the opportunity to continue to bring resources and infrastructure to the community.”
In his interview with oc115, Bowman talked about working with colleagues to create bi-county road funding in order to allocate funding to cities and villages, and being able to secure $180,000 in funding, half of which went to paving Franklin Road. He also talked about efforts to connect with youth and working on their behalf, and about exciting investments being made in the community, including the anticipated opening of Slow’s BBQ.
