West Bloomfield, MI – Audra Bartholomew is one of seven people running for four open seats on the school board for Birmingham Public Schools.  The candidates for this non-partisan position are: Lori Ajlouny, Douglas Arceo, Audra Bartholomew, Corey Jacoby, Brian Jennings, Kimberly Whitman, and Adrienne Young.
The District includes Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Franklin, Southfield, Southfield Township, Bloomfield Township, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, and Birmingham.
When asked why she is running, Bartholomew said “I’ve always had a passion for education. I have my masters in foreign and second language education. I was a teacher for seven years, and I have a lot of experience in that capacity. While I was a teacher I always wondered why Chazzano03there wasn’t someone on the school board who was a former educator.
“I always valued that there were people that understood the law, financial experts, business experts. But school boards make decisions about curriculum, salaries, and managing the budget. I felt like an educator would have a better perspective on that, so when I had my children and started becoming involved in the schools I always considered that one day I might want to do that.”
In her interview with oc115, Bartholomew talked about her involvement with the district, including as PTA Vice President and the Strategic Planning Committee. She also talked about the need for family involvement in the schools and her experience as a teacher in Southfield, Bloomfield Hills and Rochester.
