Ferndale Announces Leaf Pick Up Schedule
(City of Ferndale, Oct. 13, 2016)
You, the residents, have spoken and we heard you loud and clear: the unpredictability of fall leaf pickup has been frustrating. That’s why we’re happy to announce a new plan that provides prescheduled pickup dates and clear instructions about how and when to rake your leaves to the curb.
Every street will receive four scheduled pickups—see the map and schedule below for additional information. Simply rake your leaves to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your scheduled week and DPW will pick up by the end of the week.
A few key things to keep in mind:
- This new plan replaces the on-demand system of the past, which means there’s no need to call and report leaf piles on your street—on scheduled weeks, DPW will service your street at least once.
- If you miss a pickup, please wait to rake your leaves out until the weekend before your next scheduled pickup week; leaves piled high or for long periods of time can create parking hazards.
- If you have need for leaf removal after the end of pickup season, leaves can be bagged and placed at the curb on your regular trash day through the week of Dec. 12; after that, bagged leaves can be taken to SOCRRA, located at 995 Coolidge.
If you have questions about the new plan, contact DPW at 248-546-2525 option 7.
