Art Fair Shows Ferndale’s
Funky Side
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 25, 2016)
Ferndale, MI – Downtown Ferndale was full of art this weekend for the Funky Ferndale Art Fair. This juried art fair featured artists from all around the country, with diverse styles, techniques and types of art.
Along with the professional artists on hand, community members were able to roll up their sleeves and help paint a mural that will hang on the side of Cupcake Station at the corner of W. Nine Mile and Allen.
Ferndale High student Desaree Emmi won a design contest for the mural, which features a mix of tennis shoes with their laces tied together. Artist Hubert Massey joined Emmi and members of the Ferndale Arts and Cultural Commission to lead the collaborative painting effort.
