2016 Candidate Interview County Commissioner Dave Woodward (video)
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 20, 2016)
Royal Oak, MI – Oakland County Commissioner Dave Woodward of the 19th District is up for re-election. Woodward represents the communities of Berkley and Royal Oak. He is a Democrat. Republican Michael Ryan and Libertarian Jim Fulner are challenging him for the seat.
Woodward talked about his governing philosophy, stating “I am a strong believer that when we work together, particularly when we protect the most vulnerable, we create the conditions for local small businesses to thrive, we can expand prosperity and opportunity for everybody and not just the rich, not just the wealthy. So that’s the lens I approach a lot of policy issues that I’m working on.
In his interview with oc115, Woodward talked about his three core topics: water, roads, and parks. He also talked about his educational background, including that he has a degree in mathematics with a minor in economics. He described what a County Commission’s job entails and his experience as a State Representative before becoming County Commissioner a dozen years ago.
