(Michigan State Police, Sept. 18, 2016)
Royal Oak, MI -On September 16, 2016 at approximately 11 15 PM troopers from the Metro North post  responded to a multiple car injury crash on southbound I-75 near I-696 in the city of Royal Oak. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 2010 Dodge Dakota was southbound on I 75 and struck a 2009 Pontiac G6 in the rear end. The pick-up turned over on its side and came to rest on the right shoulder. The Pontiac went up the embankment and struck the bridge and one of the passengers was ejected onto the freeway. All of the passengers of both vehicles were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for serious injuries. As of today, the passenger that was ejected, 10 year old female from Eastpointe, was pronounced dead at 7 00 AM on September 17, 2016. The driver of the Pontiac, a 23 year old from Harper Woods is still listed in critical condition. All others involved in accident are listed in good and stable condition or have been released.  Alcohol appears to be a factor and the ejected passenger was unbelted. Investigation continues by the Metro North post.
