State Rep. Jim Runestad 44th District (video)

White Lake, MI – Republican State Representative Jim Runestad is running for re-election for the 44th District which includes the Milford, Highland, Springfield, White Lake and part of Waterford. He is being challenged by Democrat Mark Venie.
When asked why people should vote for him, Representative Runestad said “I have a record of getting things done. When I put my mind to it I am able to get good legislation through. On the County Commission I was able to get all my initiatives through and I believe I submitted 
the most. I made most of them bipartisan. Some were controversial, and took a lot of work, like E-Verify, to get through but it was a great thing for the citizens of Oakland County. So I am willing to step into the arena and battle for the things I think are important to the State of Michigan and Oakland County. That’s a reputation I’ve earned by putting my nose to the grindstone and getting it done.”
In his interview with oc115, Runestad talked about legislation he is proud of, including a bill to eliminate the fee for potential adoptive parents, a bill to curb civil asset forfeiture, the E-Verify system of searching to make sure employees are legally eligible to work in the United States, and a bill to make body cameras for police optional with consistent rules for all communities.
