Ferndale Police Department
310 E. 9 Mile Rd.
Ferndale, MI 48220
UPDATE:  Lt. Wilson of the Ferndale Police confirms that a group of people were crossing with a “don’t walk” sign across Woodward. The driver plowed through the crowd and continued going.  The video footage from Red Door Night Club shows that a police vehicle had passed the suspect’s vehicle just before the hit and run occurred. The police had stopped another driver in front of the Post Office just south of 9 Mile.  Lt. Wilson said that the officers had just pulled over the vehicle, and were in the process of calling in the plate numbers when the incident happened. The officer’s dash cam captured the suspect as they drove past.  The officers did not know there had been an accident.
The Ferndale Police are working with Crime Stoppers to offer a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
When asked about the victim’s condition Lt. Wilson said she had a brain injury and it was unknown if she would recover.
UPDATE:
“The suspect car is possibly a Buick Century (other possibilities included Buick Le Sabre or Mercury Sable) model year near the early 2000’s. One witness described the driver as a white male with a full head of dark hair about 30-40 years old.
We are analyzing several pieces of video from businesses in the area as well as the video from a Ferndale Police car that was on a traffic stop alongside of Woodward just south of 9 Mile when the accident occurred. Immediately after striking the woman, the driver drove right by the police car.” Lt. William Wilson  3pm Sept 10
