dickeys top SUPERHERO2016 Candidate Interview lisa schmidt lawRichard (Dick) Rossell for Holly Village President (video)
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 4, 2016)

Holly, MI – The race for Holly Village President is between three people:  Dave Cruickshank, James Perkins and Richard (Dick) Rossell. The election takes place Nov. 8, 2016.
Rossell is currently the Chair of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), an entity that collects tax revenue from businesses and reinvests it into services that help the Downtown business district such as maintenance and promotion.  He is also involved in his wife’s Pledge_side_bluebusiness Holly Hills Primitives, including as a furniture maker.
When asked why he’s running, Rossell said “I spent 40 years of my life working and owning several businesses.  I was so involved in that that I didn’t have much time for public service. Back about 2011 I got involved with my wife who owns Holly Hills Primitives and just kind of helped her out with that. And then I got into the DDA on the board, the Holly Downtown Development Authority, and they elected me President.  And I’ve been President the last four years. That was really the thing that dragged me into the whole arena.  But it’s been fun.  It’s been interesting and I think we’ve had a presence here”  He also later said “Really I want to continue with what we’ve got going. There’s been a real spirit of leadership and cooperation in this village inn the last few years with the Village Council, the Village Administration, the DDA. Everybody’s been kind of heading in the same direction.”
In his interview with oc115.com, Rossell talked about the successes of the DDA, his experience in business and as a veteran, cooperation among groups in the Village over the past few years, the installation of bike lanes on Saginaw Street, his family, and his reasons for public service.
