FERNDALE, Mich. (Aug 23, 2016)– Proactive collaboration between parents and school faculty can be crucial to assisting a child’s development. The Ferndale Library will begin hosting a three-part series on Parent/Teacher enrichment on Tues., Sep. 6, starting at 6 pm. Not only will we explore the concept of parents and teachers working as teams, but also show the benefits of thinking of the home as a 2nd classroom.
Along with presenting information about how to read to babies, this series will also explore ideas about learning through play, such as ways to incorporate learning and development into m1_two toneplaytime and activities at home. For these enrichment workshops, the Ferndale Library is teaming up with Oakland Family Services, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families by providing quality treatment and education services.
The featured topics will provide a framework for parents and teachers on how to utilize healthy early literacy activities at home to assure raising ready readers for the oncoming elementary school years. On Tue., Sep. 6, we will discuss Learning Through Play. On Tue., Oct. 4, the topics will include Activity Times that support children’s learning and development. Finally, on Tue., Nov. 15 (6 pm), we will cover Reading with Infants and Toddlers. All sessions begin at 6 pm.
Registration is required. Participants can register for one, two or all three sessions by calling Nicole (Oakland Family Services) at 248-858-7766, x 323, or Fay (Oakland Family Services) at 734-626-7486.
