Ferndale, MI – Several community projects are getting a boost in funding thanks to grants given by the Ferndale Community Foundation. The grants were announced at the July 25 City Council meeting (sorry we got behind due to the elections), with Councilperson Dan Martin presenting the checks.
The recipients were:
~Dales Neighborhood Group for neighborhood activities such as the Halloween event and a block party
~FernCare Free Clinic to add radiology services for uninsured patients
~Ferndale Community Concert Band for the purchase of rights to play music
~Ferndale Youth Assistance to cover the cost of educational speakers
~Zion Luthern Church for their food pantry
~Ferndale Arts and Cultural Commission for the creation of a mural that students and an artist will work on together
The Community Foundation raises money through various fundraisers including Ferndale Pride and The Ferndale Pub Crawl which recently had its last year. The money is redistributed for local projects. Learn more about Ferndale Community Foundation at http://ferndalecf.org/.
