(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 21, 2016)
Keego Harbor, MI – Republican Peter (Pete) Trzos is one of two Republicans on the ballot for the Aug. 2 primary. Garren W. Griffith is his opponent. The winner of that election will be running against Incumbent Democrat Tim Greimel, who is the Democratic House Leader. The 29th House District includes Pontiac, Auburn Hills, Sylvan Lake, Keego Harbor, and Orchard Lake.
Trzos talked about his involvement with MI Legalize, a group seeking to legalize marijuana. He led a successful ballot initiative for Keego Harbor to decriminalize marijuana in small amounts. He also ran a ballot initiative that dinos02sidelogo3was unsuccessful to impose term-limits on city council members. And in 2015 he withdrew from a race for city council to focus on his criminal defense on drug charges in relations to a medical marijuana dispensary he owned in Holly in 2013 that was raided.
When asked why he is running, Trzos said “I’m running for State Rep because I oppose tyranny. I think our government is really out of control. I think that we need more Libertarian and good people in all levels of government and I’m willing to step up and do my part.”
In his interview with oc115, Trzos talked about his plan to fight civil asset forfeiture in Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake and Orchard Lake, about his desire to change medical access programs for Veterans by allowing them to have provider choice, and his educational background. He manages a hemp oil business and organizes petitioners for Republican and Libertarian campaigns.
