CLAWSON, MI. – Clawson Public Schools announced the appointment of Amy Carpenter as Principal of Kenwood Elementary School. She replaces Dr. Ken Schofield who has accepted a position as an elementary principal in the Wayne Westland School District.
Mrs. Carpenter began her career in Clawson at Kenwood in 1990 as a fifth grade teacher. She taught in a variety of multiage classrooms and became the Reading and Achievement Specialist at Kenwood. Subsequently she became an instructional coach, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and State and Federal Programs coordinator for the District. She will retain her current K-5 Curriculum role.
“Amy is a dedicated school leader,” said Judy_Palmer30yearsSuperintendent Monique Beels.  “She is looking forward to meeting with Kenwood’s parents and staff at a series of ‘Meet and Greets’ in July, August, and September to set expectations and talk about vision for Kenwood.
“My hopes for Kenwood,” said Mrs. Carpenter, “are to ensure that every child is supported, encouraged, guided, and engaged in positive learning experiences every day.  I realize that building relationships with staff, parents, and students is the right place to begin”.
Mrs. Carpenter graduated from Michigan State University with an Education Specialist in K-12 Administration.  Her Master’s Degree is from Oakland University in Reading and Language Arts and she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Michigan University in Elementary Education.
